I'm embarking on ANOTHER incredible adventure of a lifetime!

After conquering the Great Wall of China in 2011 for the WRHS, I have decided to step up the challenge and push myself even further in October 2013, trekking the Kokoda Track!

As most of my friends will agree, I have a soft spot for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the aim again (apart from survival!) is to raise as much money as possible for them. All funds raised will go directly to providing life-saving medical services to people in dire emergency situations. Every year, they perform over 1200 missions and it costs approximately $5,000.00 per flight to retreive and transport patients. They provide a free service to over 1 million people covering a region of 132,000 square kilometres.

My reasons for supporting this charity revolve around personal experiences and I am now in a position to “give back” in some capacity. After losing a child many years ago and having lived and worked around remote parts of northern Australia, my experience highlighted the importance of quick access to medical facilities. I have always been a “glass half full” kind of person and the positives I took from this experience revolved around the medical staff and my gratitude for them and the work they do.  

I'm going to be working my butt off until October (in more ways than one!) and will certainly welcome and very much appreciate any contribution, great or small, that you could make to this little project!
